More X-Country Horse Jumps...

I received an order for 3 X-Country jumps from my friends at Maplewood Equestrian Centre in Sarsfield Ontario, located east of Ottawa.  One 36"x36"x10' jump and two 18"x18"x10' jumps.

Mobile Base and Table for my Drill Press

I added a ShopFox D2057A Heavy Duty mobile base and built a  20" x 22" platform for my PC 15" Drill Press.

Platform -
Consists of two 3/4" pieces of plywood glued and fastened together.  I drilled holes through the base plate and the metal plates at the corners of the mobile base, and secured everything with 2-1/2" hex bolts, hex nuts, flat washers and lock washers.  I then mounted the drill press to the base with 4" through bolts, flat washers and hex nuts.

Drill Press Table -
The table is 14" x 36" and is 1-1/2" thick.  Attaching the table is quick and easy with 5" toggle clamps (BusyBee Tools).  The clamps are installed on cleats and hold the auxiliary table firmly to the drill press table. Whenever I need to adjust or remove the auxiliary table, I just release the clamps and slide the table off the drill press.

I cut out the center piece in favor of a removable insert.  It's used to back up the workpiece to prevent tearout when the bit drills through, and can also be replaced when it gets chewed up.

I made a set of jumps (with poles) for Victoria, who just bought her own barn in the South Shore of Montréal.  Congratulations!

Fence Replacement

I replaced approximately 40 feet of our fence.  I cut all the boards to match the existing fence boards.  Our neighbour agreed to raise the height of the fence to 7'.

X-Country Horse Jumps

I built cross-country jumps for Riverview Stables, an equestrian barn located in Cumberland ON, east of Ottawa.  This jump is 18" wide by 18" high by 10' long.  I used 1" x 4" and 1" x 3" spruce and pine  boards.  The sides are 3/4" spruce and the 2 x 4 pressure treated bottoms holds everything together. All boards are stapled and screwed.  I put a pair of handles on either side for convenience.

This is a bigger jump, where the dimensions are 36" high by 36" wide by 10' long.  It is extremely solid.

Simple Bird Feeder for the Backyard

I found this bird feeder plan on the Kreg Tools website, and thought it would be nice in our backyard.  It was very simple and inexpensive to make.  All I needed was a 1" x 6" x 8' cedar fence board. I must say - the birds, squirrels and chipmunks really love this thing!
